Class Descriptions


Walk trot / Walk Jog – Classes to be shown at the walk, trot or jog, both ways of the ring.  Pleasure Classes to be judged on horse’s gaits, obedience and cadence.  Equitation to be judged on rider position, correctness of aids.  Riders in WT or WJ classes may not cross enter into WTC classes.  *WT riders may enter Ground Poles or Cross Rails and maintain trot during the courses.

WT Dressage Seat Rail – Class to be judged in walk and trot both ways of the ring.  Horse should show steady connection, impulsion and carriage suitable for a Dressage horse.  Riders may be asked to lengthen the trot and perform both Medium and Free Walk.

WTC Dressage Seat Rail – Class to be judged in walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  Riders may be asked to lengthen trot, both Medium and Free Walk, Working and Collected Canter.

WT Dressage Seat Equitation - Class to be judged in walk and working trot both ways of the ring.  Horse should show steady connection, impulsion and carriage suitable for a Dressage horse.  Riders may be asked to lengthen the trot and perform both medium and free Walk. Riders to be judged on seat, connection and correctness of aids. 

WTC Dressage Seat Equitation - Class to be judged in walk, working trot and canter both ways of the ring.  Riders may be asked to lengthen trot, both Medium and Free Walk, Working and Collected Canter.  Riders to be judged on seat, connection and correctness of aids.

WT & WTC Hunt Seat Classes – to be shown both ways of the ring and judged on obedience and gaits.  Equitation to be judged on rider position and correctness of aids.

Sit-a-buck – Bareback class where last rider holding their dollar under the thigh wins

Egg and Spoon – Riders will WT or WTC with an egg in their spoon.  Last rider with their egg wins

Costume – To be judged on theme, originality and creativity

Ground Poles – Open to riders in any WT flat classes.  Must be performed at the walk or trot

Cross Rails – Open to riders from WT divisions (can not canter) or WTC divisions.  A series of jumps to be judged on a point system (-4 for knockdowns or refusal)  Elimination after 2 refusals on course.  Ties to be broken with time of ride

Hunter Classes – to be judged on form of horse and rider at judge’s discretion, penalty for refusal, elimination after 2 refusals on course.  In case of a tie, win goes to the faster time.

Jumpers – to be judged on speed of round; 4 second penalty for refusal, elimination after 2 refusals on course. 

Knock and Out – Highest jumping horse of the day wins.  There will be a prep jump and a single vertical that will be set to 2’ and raised in 6” increments until the final winner is determined.  Horses should be familiar with the heights jumped and not exceed a safe margin according to previous experience.

Points will be tracked throughout the show for each horse and rider combination.  Riders may compete on multiple horses but each combination will be awarded points Individually.  

1st Place 10 points

2nd Place 8 points

3rd Place 7 points

4th Place 6 points

5th Place 5 points

6th Place 4 points
